Current Stair Climb Challenge Top Three:

The stair climb challenge is one of the most revered feats of human endurance on the Tottenham Court Road. This no-holds-barred full contact race from the ground to the sixteenth floor of University Collage Hospital has been likened to a running race, jogging for around 3 minutes and intense rotational sunbathing on a slightly overcast British day. The current leader board is as follows.

1st: Bingo - 02:14:00*
2nd Spanner - 02:17:00*
3rd Loz - 02:59:00

* Shower required after attempt.

NB: For those interested in taking part in the Stair Climb Challenge please note there is a strictly enforced "No cheating unless you absolutely have to" ruling currently in place. Timings are taken in minutes and seconds but there's a proposed switch to Kilograms and grams next week.

  2. I started that run and quite frankly cannot sleep until I get back into the top three!! We need clear guidelines on start and finish + other elements need to be included such as delays on the stairs caused by mad patients trying to escape via the stairwell on floor 9... that cost me at least a minute!

  3. I defintely know that my Mattie wouldn't have cheated. He is very fast on the stairs and many a time, when I tried to beat the living c**p out of him as a young child, he would whizz up those stairs like grease lightning. I think this is where his training began, so that's how I know it can't be true. From his doting Mother, Sarah x

  4. I believe official ruling is that timing starts when the first foot leaves the ground for the first step, and ends when both feet reach the sixteenth floor (just the top of the steps). Mad patient encounters are an added element of surprise and help to enrich the whole stair climb experience.

  5. Looking forward to getting involved with this fine event.

    I assume you’re allowing the use of carbon fibre stair wands?

    I’ve also got a smashing new pair of neoprene traction boots with Kevlar reinforced kitten heels…
